3/27/09 In keeping with our policy of never taking a plane trip that goes as planned, we finally left Dallas after two hours on the runway waiting for the storms to pass. My friend Rita met us at LAX for a nice visit then we were off on our grand adventure. We arrived in Auckland at 5:00am on Friday. Auckland is a big city of over a million people and we nearly died in the traffic on the first day. Driving in a strange city on the wrong side of the road after 4 hours of sleep is not a good idea. We quickly abandoned our rental car and rode the city buses everywhere we wanted to go. Our hotel was at the Skytower downtown.
